THABA-TSEKA – A 26-year-old man from Ha Rantsimane was arrested last week for allegedly killing his wife after accusing her of having an extra marital affair.
A police report said the man came home from a cattle post in the afternoon and knocked on the door pretending to be his wife’s lover.
“He knocked on the door and imitated the voice of his wife’s lover,” the police said.
“Once she opened the door, he beat her with a stick. He assaulted her until she died on the spot.”
The suspect appeared before the magistrates’ court on Wednesday where was charged with murder.
Meanwhile, Tjotji Nthole, 32, from Thaba-Tseka was also arrested for allegedly attempting to shoot another man after they argued at a local shabeen.
Police said Nthole tried to shoot Seabata Ranthithi with a .9mm pistol.
The police suspect the conflict emanated from the clashes that rocked the area last year.
The clashes between the residents of Thaba-Tseka left 9 people dead.
