MASERU — A 48-year-old man from Ha-Jobo in Thaba-Bosiu was on Tuesday slapped with a 15-year jail term without an option of a fine for raping a four-year old girl.
The Maseru Magistrate’s Court found that on April 26 the man unlawfully and intentionally had sexual intercourse with the minor.
He was charged with violating section 9 (1) of the Sexual Offences Act of 2003.
“You are sentenced to 15 years in prison without an option of a fine.
“You are a recidivist who cannot be rehabilitated, as you have committed a similar offence repeatedly.
“It cannot be argued that you made a mistake,” Magistrate Ts’eliso Bale said.
Bale said the convict had shown an inclination to commit sexual offences against minor children whom he had an obligation to protect.
“You were supposed to protect her but you behaved in an animalistic manner abusing your power,” he said
