MASERU — Tsoalo la Monna — a 30-minute movie by Phela Health and Development Communications — is now in its final stages of editing.
The movie was filmed a fortnight ago and is set to be officially launched and screened on Lesotho Television in February next year.
Tsoalo la Monna (A Man’s Conscience) is a Sesotho film with English subtitles that addresses issues facing Basotho migrant workers.
The story begins with Motsamai entering into a string of sexual relationships in every district he passes through during his job commitments.
Motsamai, a married man, later discovers he has contracted HIV during his multiple sexual encounters.
He then goes in search of a particular woman he believes has “given him this disease”.
But it is definitely “mission impossible” for him to identify just one woman as the “culprit” among the many he slept with.
The questions are: is Motsamai ready to accept his status?
Will he face the facts and confess his status to his wife?
Phela Health and Development Communications director, ‘Mabahlakoana Tolo, told the Weekender: “There is not much left because the film is in the final stages of editing.
“It is expected to be out and on LTV in February next year.”
She said the film has six characters, with Silas Monyatsi playing the leading role as Motsamai.
Tsoalo la Monna, she explained, addresses issues of multiple sexual relationships among Basotho.
“It is a film addressing issues of multiple and unfaithful relationships among married men when they migrate due to job commitments,” Tolo said.
“This man (Motsamai) travels throughout Lesotho and makes sure he has a concubine in every district. He later discovers he has contracted HIV and does not want to tell his wife about it.”
She said Motsamai’s conscience keeps telling him to do the right thing by revealing his HIV status.
