MASERU — A lawyer representing Rajoc Hair and Beauty Salon is set to file court papers against Mohapeloa Singers after attempts to settle out of court failed this week.
The company is suing Mohapeloa Singers for refusing to pay M5 000 in compensation after the choir allegedly breached a contract to perform at the Face of Rajoc 2008 beauty pageant in December last year.
Rajoc gave Mohapeloa Singers an ultimatum a fortnight ago — to either pay up or face legal action.
The feuding parties held a meeting on Tuesday morning seeking an out-of-court settlement but failed to reach consensus.
Rajoc’s lawyer, Lenka Malefane, told the Weekender the matter would now have to go to court.
“I was given the mandate to go ahead with all legal processes of filing court papers against Mohapeloa Singers,” Malefane said.
“We had a meeting today (Tuesday) at 10am with Mohapeloa Singers representatives to try and settle this matter out of court.
“They refused to pay, saying they were not obliged to pay Rajoc.”
Malefane would not say when he would be approaching the courts.
“We are going to file papers against Mohapeloa as soon as possible,” he said.
Mohapeloa Singers president Thabo Mokhuts’oane refused to comment on the matter.
“There is no comment,” Mokhuts’oane said.
“I gave our side of the story (that we would not pay the money) last week and I did the same before their lawyer today (Tuesday).”
