MASERU — The Maloti Mountain Brewery (MMB) on Friday donated a new kit to Maseru Kings rugby team.

The team, which is an offshoot of a weight-lifting club at Lehakoe Recreational Centre, was formed last October.

MMB managing director, Antony Brandon, handed over the new kit to the captain of Maseru Kings team, Rethabile Sekola, at a ceremony held at the Maloti Mountain Brewery Training Centre.

Brandon said the donation is meant to motivate the team and encourage the players to keep on working hard to boost rugby in Lesotho.

“This kit will make you feel inspired and united, so as you wear it, always know that you have our support. Go out there and play your best,” Brandon said.

“We would like to see you playing in the World Cup in the coming years but it all comes from unity within the team and hard work.”

Sekola said they were happy that Maloti Mountain Brewery had recognised them.

“I am very happy to be here and on behalf of my team-mates, I would like to thank Maloti Mountain Brewery for recognising us,” he said.

He added that the team will feel confident in the new kit and work hard to deliver their best.

In an interview with the Lesotho Times, Sekola said for a team that started in the gym, they were so determined that their aim is to play at the World Cup.

“What Maloti Mountain Brewery has done for us today shows that we are not lost, they have given us hope,” he said, adding that they would like to see rugby being recognised like any other sport in Lesotho.
