MASERU — Telecommunications giant Vodacom Lesotho is set to host an end-of-year concert at Maseru Club on December 17 with some of South Africa’s hottest acts expected to take part.
The company has lined up the likes of Oskido, Professor, Arthur, Black Motion, Zakes Bantwinin and Chomee.
They will be joined by local artistes Bhudaza, Puseletso Seema, Stlofa, Palesa Motlomelo and Sechaba ‘Fatere’ Litabe among others.
Vodacom Lesotho acting marketing manager, Sekonyela Matamane, told the Weekender on Tuesday that the gig, which is being dubbed ‘Red Summer’, was meant to celebrate achievements for the year with their customers.
“It is our culture to host a big concert for our customers in celebration of all the milestones throughout the year,” Matamane said.
“This concert is being celebrated under the theme The Summer of More. It forms part of activities under the Vodacom Summer campaign that we launched earlier (last) month.”
He added that the campaign has a lot of specials and activities “that will make our customers smile”.
“The past years we had what we called Summa Feva but after we re-branded, we are re-naming it the annual party,” Matamane said.
“Maybe it’s surprising that we held a Red Hot concert earlier this year but the two have different meanings and messages. The Red Hot concert was for re-branding and the Red Summer is a Vodacom end-of-year celebration with our customers,” Matamane said.
He said they had decided to retain artistes such as Professor, Fatere and Chomee who were part of the Red Hot Concert.
“Most of the acts on the line-up are those we already have a working relationship with and they performed beyond our expectations during our past events.”
Matamane said he was sure Fatere, who is recovering following a road accident in May, would be fit enough to make it to the stage.
“We are in no position to speak on his behalf but we are sure that all people on the line-up will be able to make it to the stage,” he said.
“The event is targeted at all our customers hence the versatile line-up. As always we promise fireworks and intensive partying.”
