MASERU — South Africa’s DJ Sbu is set to perform at Bambata Tsita Sporting Arena tomorrow.
The popular DJ is also expected to launch his clothing label Vandal Authentic Wear.
Also expected to perform are fellow South African DJs DJ Kenlow from Cape Town, DJ Malwela from Pretoria and Soul T from Johannesburg.
South African kwaito star Bricks is also expected to perform.
The show will also see locals DJ Tseko, Sir Schaba, Harris T and Bootz flying the local flag.
At a press conference on Tuesday, DJ Sbu said he will take the opportunity to promote his clothing label.
He said he is targeting the ordinary people in “townships” to push sales.
“The word vandal is associated with negativity so I decided to team up with my partner Trevor Madondo to establish a fashion movement that will help empower young people from the townships who are not lazy to make money from the concept,” DJ Sbu said.
“We are looking to turn the negative into the positive and empower people who believe in making it themselves,” DJ Sbu said.
The entertainer said the Maseru party was the first since the establishment of the label last year.
“We chose to stage the first party in Lesotho because the market response has been enormous as compared to other countries,” he said.
He said as an entertainer he strives to give back to the community and he therefore wants to give back something to help people on the streets.
“After winning a number of best-dressed awards I thought I should use that to establish a movement that will benefit the fashion industry.
“We will be promoting our movement in a fun-filled atmosphere. We will have stalls where Vandal and Vandys clothes will be sold,” he said.
“We have penetrated Lesotho, Swaziland, Botswana and South Africa but Lesotho is on top of the sales,” Trevor Madondo, a partner with Sbu, said.
