THE Lesotho Fashion Week will next year launch a reality television series titled Kiva picks her dress for Lesotho Fashion Week featuring television personality and marketing and digital advertising specialist Kananelo ‘Kiva’ Phakisi.

The first episode of the series is expected to be aired on Lesotho Television (LTV) on 2 March 2020.

The series is meant to take viewers through the preparatory process prior to the Lesotho Fashion Week Spring Summer 2020, scheduled for 17 to 19 April 2020 at Maliba Mountain Lodge.

Founder of the Lesotho Fashion Week Mahali Granier said in this seven part weekly series, Kiva goes on a search for the perfect outfit for the Lesotho Fashion Week where she will be a Red Carpet Host.

“In this series Kiva reaches out to three different local fashion designers namely Matseliso Mphaka, founder of Tseli.M, Lineo ‘Ceci’ Masupha who is the Founder of Wild Laelia as well as Tšepiso Isabella Mokobori, founder of Proverbial by Bella who help her find her perfect dress,” Granier said.

She says Kiva tries different outfits from their 10 piece collection each, which they will ultimately showcase at the Lesotho Fashion Week Spring Summer 2020 season.

“With the help of her closest friends, Ms Kiva ultimately narrows it down to three outfits but the question remains, which ones will she choose?”

She said in this reality TV series, Kiva also navigates through the choice of makeup, the perfect hair style and the best accessories and shoes.

“The three local fashion designer’s showcase journey is full of twists and turns. People will see them go through concept sketching, to fabric sourcing to street interviews, model fittings and lock book photo-shoots all the way to the final showcase at Maliba Mountain Lodge.”

Kiva told the Weekender that shooting the video was an amazing experience and it came at an ideal time when she was trying to evolve and grow herself as a brand. She said it was crucial to find something in the entertainment section that had elements that she liked.

“I love being in front of the camera and I love fashion so since I am trying to develop myself as an influencer, collaborating with the Lesotho Fashion Week made a whole lot of sense for me,” Kiva said.

She said the shooting of the series was tough hectic but added that she was happy with what they put together.

“The most important thing is to make cooperates aware that the creative space is evolving and its creating an environment that every brand interested with fashion in collaborating can find it safe,” she said.

She said the project is also a way of making people aware of the Lesotho Fashion Week while opening it for the fashion industry and the rest of the public to see it as a sustainable industry.
