ENTERTAINMENT hotspot, Cuban Linx, will on Saturday host South African disc spinner Speedsta and television personality Lootlove in an event dubbed “Amplified Sessions”.

Local DJs, Trybz, AfroDJ, Osmic and NINE24, are also billed to spin the decks at the show which is organised by OTB Events.

The 25-year-old Speedsta gained repute for tracks such as Mayo, I Don’t Know and Special Somebody which have become popular in Botswana, Swaziland and Nigeria among other countries.

Since 2014, Speedsta had been nominated for the DJ of the Year category gong at the South African Hip Hop Awards, and only managed to win the accolade last year.

Speedsta has performed in Lesotho a number of times, and his shows were well received by local music fans.

He and Lootlove co-host the Absolut Hip Hop show on Metro FM which airs on Saturdays from 6pm to 10pm.

One of the show’s organisers, Sakhele Mabusetsa, told the Weekender that Speedsta was making a long-awaited return to Lesotho, while Lootlove was coming for the first time. Lootlove is also the host of the popular SABC 1 show Live AMP.

“Speedsta is now a recognised DJ and brand. He has been making waves in the entertainment scene across southern Africa while Lootlove will be making a greatly anticipated debut appearance,” said Mabusetsa.

“Speedsta has visited Lesotho numerous times and was last in the country in 2016 for two events in which he left revellers asking for more. That’s why we decided to bring him back.”

He also indicated that bringing in South African acts was meant to foster networking and collaboration with local artists.

“Many artists in Africa are collaborating on musical projects, but musicians from Lesotho are being left behind,” Mabusetsa said.

“So, the plan is to encourage collaboration between local and foreign artists during such events, so that our musicians can also perform in foreign lands.

“The last show we had was headlined by DJ Shaxe from Bloemfontein. Thereafter, he has been inviting the local DJs he was playing with at our show to his events in Bloemfontein, which is what we are expecting with Speedsta,” he said.
