MASERU – A junior tennis tournament is currently underway at the national courts in Maseru.
The tournament, which began yesterday, ends on Saturday and is part of the Lesotho Lawn Tennis Association’s ongoing youth development programme.
The tournament has been divided into five categories: under-18, under-16, under-14, under-12 and under-10 with participants being drawn from schools from around the country.
“The tournament will run from the 2nd to the 5th of December,” Lesotho’s national tennis coach, Sekhobe Moshoeshoe told the Lesotho Times last week.
“It is around this time when players begin qualifying for the African Junior Championships. The dates for that tournament have not yet been set, but our preparations have to begin now.”
At this year’s Africa Youth Championships held in Morocco in April, no Lesotho player went past the first round.
