HIP Hop outfit, Mapanaki, will be hoping to revive their fortunes with a single and video launch show slated for Victory Centre in Moshoeshoe II on 6 August 2016.

The group was formed in January 2014 under Landlocked Entertainment owned by Motheea Mpharoane. They made waves with their debut single Chelete, which was soon followed by Buka Le Pene.

However, according to Mpharoane, the group lost its momentum after four of its eight members walked away in February this year due to some disagreements.

The remaining members are Tšepang “Shannon” Dlamini, Katiso “Swain” Tlali, Mohapi “Vendrose” Moekoa and Thato “Tido” Nkuebe.

“Some of our members were not happy with the way the group was run and decided to leave us in February this year. So we had to restructure the group since they left a big gap,” he said.

“It took us time to recover and change the framework we had initially set. We also assessed the mistakes that led to the split and how we could ensure they would not be repeated.”

Mpharoane said the group’s fans had been left wondering where they went because of their silence.

“It has been a long time since we served our beloved fans and we are sure most of them lost hope in us,” he said.

Our motto is ‘The best or nothing’, so we took our time in producing our latest offering. Another reason we took so long was that every single we drop is accompanied by a video.”

The Mapanaki manager said revellers should expect a scintillating show at the launch event for their new single titled Lala.

“We don’t want to blow our own horn, but all I can say to revellers is they should come through and judge for themselves. The show is called ‘Mic Test’ because we want to reintroduce ourselves to the people,” he said.

“Because we owe our fans as the Mapanaki team, admission for the show will be free. The show will not be just about Mapanaki because other local artists will also get the opportunity to entertain the crowd.”
