MASERU — DJ Sumthyn Black has got something for Lesotho.
The South African house musician, born Steven Makhongela, is set to launch his first album — My Way of House Room 1 — in Maseru next month.
The album features top South African artists like Ntsiki Mazwai, Mzwakhe Mbuli and Phila Mahuwelele, among other top acts.
DJ Sumthyn Black told the Weekender he expects the featured artists to come along with him to Lesotho for the CD launch.
The 13-track album, released in South Africa last month, has already received a favourable response locally.
“Apparently a lot of people in Lesotho like it,” DJ Sumthyn Black said.
“I am coming for a CD launch in Lesotho sometime in November.
“I am specifically doing this for my music fans in Lesotho.
“I am coming with all the people featured on this album.”
Local musician Charles “Manyofi” Nkheloane is handling DJ Sumthyn Black’s music business in the country.
DJ Sumthyn Black said Manyofi was working with sponsors on the album launch.
“Skepselez (Manyofi) is finalising something for the gig with our sponsors,” he said.
DJ Sumthyn Black and Manyofi have since signed a one-year contract that is renewable based on performance.
Manyofi will manage DJ Sumthyn Black’s business locally for the next 11 months.
“I met this guy through the internet and decided to sign the contract with him,” DJ Sumthyn Black said.
“He will manage all my business affairs in Lesotho.”
“So far he is doing a great job,” he added.
DJ Sumthyn Black has also released singles like Limpopo Funk and Another Story.
