Democratic Congress (DC) and Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) supporters brought Maseru central business district to a virtual standstill at midday on Monday as they drove around “to show support” for their parties.

The supporters said the move was meant to reassure the general membership that the “Congress movement” was still “alive and well” in the wake of Saturday’s general elections.

By close of Monday’s counting of the votes, the DC had won 33 constituencies, while the LCD had two. The All Basotho Convention (ABC) was leading with 40, and the Basotho National party (BNP) had one. The remaining four constituencies would be announced on Tuesday morning, while the Proportional Representation (PR) seats are going to be made public on Wednesday.
