Lioli hammered Likhopo 3-0 last Sunday to maintain their impressive form as the Vodacom Premier League programme edges towards the end of the first round.

Inform striker, Tšepo Seturumane, bagged a brace, while Tšepo Lekhooana scored the other goal to hand Tse Nala their seventh win of the campaign in a highly entertaining match played at Setsoto Stadium.  This was Likhopo’s sixth defeat in 10 matches, and ensured they remained second from bottom on the 14-team table.

Seturumane has now hit the back of the net six times and trails the league’s current top scorer, Litšepe Marabe of Bantu, by three goals.

With their current goal-scoring form, it looks like the duo would once again, battle-it-out for the Golden Boot award reminiscent of their 2012/13 duel when Seturumane eventually won it with 13 goals, while Marabe had 12.

Meanwhile, defending league champions, Bantu maintained their position at the top of the table with a 3-0 win over Mphatlatsane in St Monica’s on Saturday.

Marabe snatched his ninth goal of the campaign, with Hopolang Mohlalefi grabbing the other goals, to complete the rout.

A Matšo Matebele lead the Premier League table with 24 points, while LDF are second with 23, and Lioli come in third position with 22 points.

The Teyateyaneng-based Lioli have only played nine matches compared with Bantu’s 12 and LDF’s 11 fixtures.

Army side LDF ensure their remained in second position after a 2-1 win over Likila, also on Saturday.

At the bottom of the table, LMPS’ nightmare continued last weekend as they suffered their seventh loss of the campaign. The police side are bottom of the table with six points, and fell 1-0 to Nyenye Rovers last weekend, who are slowly finding their feet and have now gone on a three-match unbeaten run.

Rovers had struggled with their game in the early stage of the season, but are now pushing for a Top 8 finish.

Sundawana were also 2-1 winners over Kick4Life in Butha-Buthe while Matlama edged Qoaling Highlanders 1-0, thanks to a Jane Thabantšo strike at LCS Ground on Sunday.

Weekend results at a glance

Saturday: Mphatlatsane 0-3 Bantu, LDF 2-1 Likila United.

Sunday:Matlama 1-0 Qoaling Highlanders, Lioli 3-0 Likhopo, LMPS 0-1 Nyenye Rovers,  Sundawana 2-1 Kick4Life.
