… Afro Souls Party finally set to explode at Victoria in Maseru

By Mohalenyane Phakela

MASERU – The long-awaited Afro Souls Party will finally take place at the Victoria Poolside in Maseru this Saturday.

The event was initially scheduled for December 28 last year, but subsequently moved toJanuary 25, then February 15 and 22 for undisclosed reasons.

However, the organisers have confirmed the gig will finally roar into life on March 1 at 11am, with guests promised a party to remember as it is expected to end in the wee hours of Sunday.

“The Afro Souls Party is more than just music; it is more focused on exchanging positive vibes, promoting style, fashion trends and encouraging freedom of expression as opposed to conformism. It is basically the celebration of beautiful souls,” said Selektah Che of Ragga Vybz.

“Our main focus is the youth. A lot of young artistes are becoming innovative with the ancient artistry. We feel they deserve to be given a platform to communicate their concepts and ideas with the public.

“Hopefully, the event will serve as a pioneer of the allegiance between different artistes as they come together in one accord, as Afro souls, to break the boundaries between these categories, while also spreading love and reconnection with identity to the public.

“Our call is to those free-minded and gifted souls to come and be filled with joyful sounds in the space of oneness.”

Selektah Che said Saturday’s activities will cater for every taste.

“It will basically be a platform for artisans to display their creativity. There will be Dubstep, Dancehall, live performances and reggae fusions. The public is advised to be dressed in African-printed attire as the event is all about African unity.”
