MASERU — Hip hop artiste, Stlofa, is set to perform in Klerksdorp in North West Province in South Africa on February 18.

Stlofa, who has hogged the headlines for all the wrong reasons in the past, told the Weekender that he was now a changed man eager to consolidate his career.

He said he hoped the Klerksdorp show will help open doors for his blossoming career.

“This is not a promotional tour. I am not booked as a supporting act to the big artistes but will perform as the main act at the show,” Stlofa said.

The show is being organised by Remo Entertainment and Productions.

“These guys saw me perform in December last year and took my contacts and we kept in touch. They took a copy of my album and they blazed it on their local radio station, Star FM,” Stlofa said.

“The province (North West) is largely a Setswana-speaking province so my music is going to be relevant to the crowd,” he said.

Setswana and Sesotho are mutually intelligible languages.

Stlofa said he would be leaving three days before the show to conduct radio interviews and road shows around colleges in the North West province.

The dreadlocked musician said he will use the time to sell his clothing merchandise during the trip.

“I will be taking along my T-shirts, golfers, sweaters, overalls, caps, and other merchandise. I want to be remembered not only for my music but  for my clothing label as well,” he said.

“I have worked hard to make a career out of my talent and now I am seeing results and I have to give all the credit to Basotho for supporting me,” Stlofa said.

He said the people were taking note of his music and for that he was grateful.

“I really appreciate all that. If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be where I am today,” he said.

Stlofa said he is already working on his second album titled, Mohale o tsoa maroleng.

“The 12-track album features hits like Kemang ea ithatelang and Tsoaebana where I feature a South African DJ SashDee.”

He said the album will be released later this year. He added that he was also planning to release a DVD and a documentary on his own life before winter.

“The DVD features songs like Ha ho poho peli, Ntja tsa media, O la ka jeoa and Life is like a lie which was made famous by Lefate.”

This is the second time that Stlofa will be performing in South Africa.

Last year the artist performed in Botshabelo at a tournament organised by Ba2cada which he said helped boost his fan base in that country.

“Good things are still to come this year, people should look out for a more powerful and full of energy Stlofa.”
