LIOLI started its 2019/20 Econet Premier League campaign on the back foot after being edged 1-0 by LCS on Sunday at LCS Ground.

LCS’ newly acquired striker Keketso Snyders’ header helped the Mpitsa Marai coached outfit secure the win in its first game of the season and continue its long dominance over Lioli.

In other league matches on Sunday, the Katiso Mojakhomo coached Kick4Life made a good start to the season coming from a goal down to beat Liphakoe 2-1 in the first of two matches at LCS Ground.

Liphakoe had an early lead from a Moeketsi Sephiri strike but the Quthing outfit’s lead was short-lived after Kick4Life’s Khubetsoana Kamela and skipper Johannes Molapo both netted from the spot.

Lebajoa Mosehlenyane was on target for Linare with Tse Tala opening their campaign with a 1-0 win over newcomers Lifofane at Maputsoe DIFA Ground.

The Ratjomose clash LDF and LMPS was the only match of the day that ended goalless.

To wrap up Sunday matches, league debutants Lijabatho gave away their 2-0 lead to Likhopo. Likhopo’s Santi Ntšohi missed from the spot what could have earned them the three points at Thabeng High School Grounds in Morija. Although Lijabatho looked the better side on the day and could have easily defended their lead, their inexperience worked against them. They had led through former Swallows attacker Retšelisitsoe Mopeli’s brace.

In the season opener, Bantu sweated for a 2-0 win over Sefotha-fotha at Setsoto Stadium on Saturday. Hlompho Kalake and Lazola Tjokotjokwana scored the goals.

Defending champions Matlama were too strong for Swallows walloping the Mazenod outfit 0-6 at Setsoto Stadium. Jane Thabantšo and Mokoena Khoanyane scored a brace each while Lisema Lebokollane and Maputi Potloane scored a goal apiece.
