Matlama wallop Linare

THE new Matlama coach Thabile Secker hit the ground running last weekend leading his side to 4-0 demolition of Linare in his opening match of the 2018/19 Econet Premier League season at Maputsoe DIFA Ground on Sunday.

Phafa Tšosane and Lebajoa Mosehlenyane each netted a brace as Tse Putsoa got their new campaign off to a flying start against old rivals.

Mosehlenyane broke the deadlock in the opening minutes of the game and went on to score his second in the second half to complete a brace against his former club.

The new Liphakoe coach Thabo Tšutšulupa also got off to a flying start in his first coaching job in the Mountain Kingdom when his side beat Likhopo 2-1 at LCS Ground on Sunday.

Tšepang Makapa also netted a brace while Santi Ntšohi scored the consolation goal for Likhopo.

LCS and Premier League returnees Swallows faced off in the second of the double header at LCS Ground on Sunday with Refiloe Mothae putting the correctional service side ahead in the early stages of the game.

The Mpitsa Marai coached outfit were made to pay for missed chances having dominated the game in the first half when Mohau Khali scored the equalizer to salvage a point for Swallows.

LMPS were also in action on Saturday and were made to sweat by rookies Galaxy before Basia Makepe’s solitary goal earned the police side a hard won 1-0 victory.

On Saturday, defending champions Bantu were frustrated by Sefotha-fotha beginning their title defence with 1-1 draw at Ratjomose Barracks.

Mohau Mothibeli put Sefotha-fotha ahead on the 36th minute while debutant Neo Mokhachane was the hero for A Matšo Matebele grabbing the equaliser to deny Bafokeng Mohapi’s charges an upset of the champions.

LDF also opened their campaign with a victory at Ratjomose Barracks on Saturday.

Koete Mohloai scored the only goal of the match to give Motheo Mohapi a 1-0 victory over Majantja.

Elsewhere on Saturday, Kick4Life caused the biggest upset of the opening day of the new campaign with a 2-1 victory over Lioli at Maputsoe DIFA ground.

The victory over Tse Nala was the first ever for Kick4Life in the league as Bob Mafoso got the better of his mentor Lehlohonolo Thotanyana.

Kick4Life first beat Lioli in a third-place play-off of the LNIG Top8 in the 2017/18 season.

Bonang Mohapi and debutant Tšeliso Botsane bagged the two goals for Mafoso’s side while Switberth Kim Kun also scored on his debut for Lioli.
