FORMER premier league champions, Matlama, on Sunday maintained their excellent form under coach, Mosito Matela, by beating Liphakoe 3-1 to go level on 25 points with second placed Lioli in the Econet Premier League standings.

The win left also cut the gap between them and pacesetters Bantu to just five points. The latter dropped points when they were held to a disappointing goalless draw by debutants Sefotha-fotha on Sunday.

Motebang Sera scored a brace and Jane Thabantšo weighed in with the other goal as Matlama claimed their seventh victory in 13 matches.

It was a seventh loss for Liphakoe who consequently dropped out the top eight.

Log leaders, Bantu’s draw gave Lioli and Matlama a chance to reduce the gap at the top of the table.

Bantu beat Sefotha-fotha 4-0 in the reverse fixture but this time they found an unyielding and impregnable defence which forced them to settle for a point.

However, the Mafeteng outfit remains on top of the log standings with 30 points from 13 games.

The spoils were also shared in the other Sunday match between LDF and Likhopo at Ratjomose Barracks in Maseru.

LDF are fourth while Likhopo remain in danger of relegation as they sit on 12th place in the 13-tem premier league.

On Saturday Nkoto Masoabi netted a brace as Kick4Life condemned winless Sky Battalion to their 12th defeat in 13 games.

The win helped Kick4Life move to fifth as they continued with their revival after a disappointing start to the 2017/18 season.

They have now amassed 18 points from 13 games.

Elsewhere on Saturday, veteran coach Ntebele ‘Mochole’ Taole got off to a winning start when LMPS edged LCS 2-1 at the PTC Ground.

Young forward Monyatheli Ntobo grabbed two goals to set Simunye on their way to fifth win in thirteen games.

Makara Ntaitsane scored the consolation for LCS who were replaced in fifth position by Kick4Life.

LCS dropped to seventh after suffering their fourth defeat of the campaign.

Linare edged Majantja to register fifth win in 13 games.

Rethabile Selonyane and Letsoko Leboela scored for Linare to help the Hlotse outfit move out of the relegation zone.
