MASERU — South African House legend, Black Coffee, will no longer play at Victoria Poolside on April 19, it has emerged.
Last month local disc spinner DJ Tseko of Kuna Sounds, had said they would be hosting the House muso in collaboration with Jam Sessions.
However, after Econet released the line-up of artistes that are to perform at the Econet Buddie Zone Concert at Setsoto Stadium on Saturday with Black Coffee also listed, there was confusion as to whether the Africa Rising star will play in two different venues on the same day.
After catching wind of the confusion, the Weekender did some digging around to establish what will actually happen regarding Black Coffee on Saturday.
It finally turned out that the Durban-born deejay will no longer play at Victoria Poolside but only at the Econet concert.
The investigation revealed that DJ Tseko signed a deal with the Econet show organisers to hand over Black Coffee’s booking for an undisclosed fee. Both DJ Tseko and Econet confirmed the transfer and that there will no longer be a show at Poolside on the Saturday.
The banners hanging on the streets of Maseru that bore the tagline Ytjukutja have since been removed as they were intended to promote the Poolside event which is no longer part of the Easter events line up.
The double-booking had worried fans eager to attend the show of the renowned South African deejay.
Black Coffee will play at one venue which is the Setsoto Stadium and fans can catch him there.
