THE second edition of the annual fashion show Show Me Yours has been lauded by one of Africa’s leading Hip Hop publications, Hype Magazine, which described Maseru as the “big sneaker attraction on the map”.
Show Me Yours is an annual event which exhibits the latest trends in the realm of sneakers. According to the event organisers, Emotiv PR and Kingsway Kicks, it is a showcase of urban lifestyles and the fashion trends influenced by popular culture.
The last edition, which was held in October last year, was the first local event covered by the glamorous magazine.
In its January/February 2015 issue Hype Magazine praised the event saying: “With a population of less than 250 000 people, Maseru is definitely a small city compensating for its size by becoming a huge sneaker attraction on the map.”
According to Emotiv PR’s Tlali “Mr Maps” Mapetla, they were honoured to grace the pages of the magazine which had also put Lesotho on the map.
He said Show Me Yours is also the name of the upcoming Hip Hop project by Royale (Mr Maps and L-tore), with the aim to showcase the local hip hop culture to an international audience.
“Emotiv PR partnered with Kingsway Kicks to turn the Show Me Yours project into a lifestyle concept, and not just music, by introducing sneaker exhibitions based on the successful inaugural show in 2013,” said Mr Maps.
“It made us realise the potential of high fashion and the ready market in Lesotho.
“We are very honoured because Show me Yours was allotted a two page spread in the January/February 2015 issue of Hype Magazine which is distributed across Africa, creating a significant buzz across the continent.”
The magazine also praised the exploits of rapper L-Tore saying: “L-Tore treated the crowd to an impromptu performance and what is scary is how young he is yet already sounds so bonafide.”
On his part, the chuffed L-Tore said: “I cannot find words to describe how I feel. Having my face distributed across Africa is quite an achievement.
“With the Show Me Yours Mixtape dropping only next month, I can say this is going to be quite an eventful year.”
