MATLAMA registered their first victory of the new season with a 2-0 win over Kick4Life a week after being held in a goalless draw by premiership returners Rovers last weekend.

Jane Thabantšo and Tankiso Makhutla scored the two goals to hand new coach Moses Maliehe his first league win since taking over the reins at the country’s most successful team.

The victory lifts Matlama to four points from their opening two matches.

Meanwhile, a match between high-flying Likhopo and LMPS failed to produce the goods, ending in a goalless draw at LCS Ground on Sunday.

LMPS started the campaign with a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Bantu last weekend, with Likhopo hammering Linare 4-1 in their opening match.

Defending champions, Lioli, maintained their great start to the new season with a 2-1 win over struggling Linare.

Lekhanya Lekhanya scored a brace to take his tally in the two matches to three goals, joining Lehlomela Ramabele as the league’s top goal scorers.

For Linare, this was their second successive loss which ensconces them to the bottom of the league table. Up-the-Greens, as Linare are affectionately known, are the only team without any points this season.

Bantu were held to a one-all draw, having come from behind through a Litšepe Marabe goal which ensured the Mafeteng-based outfit avoided defeat in their two opening matches.

A Matšo Matebele only have a point from their two matches, and new coach Katiso Mojakhomo will be under pressure from the club’s supporters to ensure they return to winning ways in the forthcoming matches.

Rovers edged Liphakoe 1- 0 in a battle of the newly-promoted teams played in Roma on Saturday.

Thuso Mankoane scored late in the second half to help the Dynamites collect four points from their two opening matches.

The match between Mphatlalatsane and Likila United was suspended after the St Monica’s side failed to produce their players’ playing licenses.
