MASERU — Machabeng College will next weekend showcase talent through a two-day fun fair.

Machabeng Dance Club supervisor, Roxanna Louise, said there would be poetry, music and dance from arts groups within the college.

The event is dubbed Chronicles of the mind.

Louise said Chronicles of the mind is a collaboration between Fabrix of Rythimx, a poetry club from the college and music and dance clubs.

“The fair is aimed at exposing talent and creativity within the young generation outside academic activities,” she told the Weekender.

“We have held poetry events before but never a collaboration of arts within the school so this year we decided to incorporate other talents.”

Louise said the collaboration was to strengthen their ability to be informative through their respective talents.

“We all speak the same language through our different arts so working parallel was not helping the development within the college hence the collaboration,” she added.

Arts play a pivotal role in everyday life hence there was need to support such initiatives.

Bataung Moeketsi, a student and leader of Machabeng music club, told the Weekender that the event proves that everyone is capable of doing anything outside academic life.

“Not everyone is academically talented so this is an opportunity for my fellow young stars to prove that they can do something tangible despite not being the best academically,” Moeketsi said.

He encouraged other participants to use events like this to pursue their dreams.

“Do not let anybody tell you that you will not make it, just use their negative opinions as an opportunity of positivity and do not shut your dreams.”
