MASERU — Telecommunications giant, Vodacom Lesotho, on Sunday short-listed 10 people to present a new entertainment show on Lesotho Television.
Vodacom Lesotho marketing co-ordinator, Sekonyela Matamane, said an estimated 200 registered for the auditions for the Superstar Music and Dance Television show.
However 120 turned up on Saturday and the figure was eventually cut down to 10 the following day.
Out of these, only two will win the ticket to present the television programme.
Matamane said the winners will not only be limited to Lesotho TV but will also get an opportunity to express their talent on other social networks.
“We are going to flight the show on social networks, an element that provides possibilities of exposure beyond the borders of Lesotho for the winners,” he said.
Matamane said the finalists will be voted by fans through the short message service (sms).
Voting lines will open today and close on April 26 with the Vodacom Superstar Music and Dance competition being officially launched a day later.
The names of the two winners will be announced on April 27, he added.
“Vodacom is going to create a media platform for the public to meet the top 10 so they can select their favourite artist through print media, posters, radio and social media,” Matamane said.
He said they were happy with the turn-up last weekend.
“We expected around the same number of people, not more. This is because not everyone would be keen to jump at the opportunity of being in front of a camera, hence the event was not taken out to the country’s districts,” he said.
