DADS are set for a treat this Father’s Day, on 15 June, with an event lined up for them courtesy of Baduza Family Park at Maseru Mall.
The event, dubbed Father’s Day Picnic, is meant to honour fathers since it is the only day throughout the year specially marked for them.
“It is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society,” the coordinator of the event, Montoeli Moleli, told the Weekender this week.
“Women have so many days in which they are honoured; they have Mother’s Day and the whole of August is women’s month while men only have this day (15 June) so it has to be special.
“We are expecting families to bring their male figures to a special treat that will be held in the Baduza Family Park at the mall.”
“Father’s Day is on the horizon, and it is the best day to show fathers the appreciation of the role they play in our lives, and show them how special they are.
“We cannot be in this world without our fathers, and they have sacrificed so much from clothes, guidance and the tips about life that they have given us.
“Although there maybe hiccups here and there, they always try their best to be reliable men in our lives that have always treated us with a strict yet loving hand.
“There are so many ways to show them how special they are, and the best way is to honour them on a day dedicated solely to them,” he said.
Local deejays such as Tseko and Kolu Jazz band will provide the entertainment during the picnic while fun activities are lined up for kids as well.
