MASERU — The 2009 Face of Rajoc beauty pageant has been pencilled in for December 5 although the venue is yet to be confirmed.
The pageant, organised by Rajoc Hair & Beauty Salon, is in its second year running.
Ten contestants will take part in the event, with the winner set to represent the country in a pageant in Nigeria.
The inaugural Face of Rajoc winner, Sarah Mafereka, last month contested in the Ragazza Cinema OK Tour in Italy.
All of this year’s contestants are guaranteed of M1 000 for taking part in the pageant.
They will also take part in fashion shows to be organised by Rajoc Hair & Beauty Salon in March and June next year.
“According to our budget, every contestant will get M1 000 at the end of the competition,” said Tlali Tlali, the owner of Rajoc Hair & Beauty Salon.
He said there will be more prizes for the contestants as the organisers were still negotiating with sponsors.
“The prizes will obviously improve when the sponsors approve the proposals we have presented to them,” he said.
Tlali said they wanted every contestant to take something home as a way to motivate them and improve the pageant industry at large.
“We normally have the queen getting all the prizes but we now want to improve the pageant,” he said.
The Face of Rajoc contestants are scheduled to start their preparations for the pageant on Sunday.
“The girls will start training on Sunday,” Tlali said.
“We want to keep all of them busy until we crown the next queen.”
