MASERU — Mohapeloa Singers is set to host Manzini Choir at the Two Nations Show set for next weekend.
Manzini is Swaziland’s leading choir.
This will be the second time the Two Nations Show is held between the two choirs. Mohapeloa went to Swaziland last year in October.
Mohapeloa Singers president Thabo Mokhuts’oane told the Weekender on Monday that the Two Nations Show will be held next Saturday and Sunday at Khali Motel and ‘Manthabiseng Convention Centre respectively.
“We will be hosting Manzini Choir at the Two Nations Show scheduled for next week Saturday and Sunday,” Mokhuts’oane said.
“The show will be held at Khali Motel on Saturday and the Convention Centre on Sunday.”
The main purpose of the show is to share the dynamics of cultural influences on choral music.
The show will also be used to strengthen ties between the two choirs.
“The purpose is to understand cultural influence on choral music,” said Mokhuts’oane.
“This will help us appreciate how culture influences the presentation of songs as we prepare for South African competitions.”
He said they sometimes fail to perform when given Swazi songs during such competitions.
“We would want this interaction to equip us with knowledge on community development projects,” Mokhuts’oane said.
“We are a community choir and would strive to help develop areas around us.”
