BLUE Sky Air Conditioning and Refrigeration has donated air conditioning and installation equipment valued at M700,000 to the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF).
This generous gesture is aimed at improving the living and working conditions of LDF members as they carry out their duties to protect and serve the nation.
The official handover ceremony took place yesterday at Ratjomose Barracks.
The donated equipment includes state-of-the-art air conditioning units, along with a one-year maintenance plan. These units will be installed in various facilities, including barracks, administrative offices, and halls.
Blue Sky’s representative, Mathina Mokhoro, expressed the company’s commitment to supporting national institutions.
“We are proud to contribute to the well-being of our soldiers, who work tirelessly to safeguard our country’s sovereignty and peace. By providing them with essential equipment, we believe we are boosting their morale and operational efficiency,” said Ms Mokhoro.
She said her decision to make the donation was influenced by a previous visit to Makoanyane Barracks, wherein she experienced the discomfort of extreme heat in a hall without air conditioning.
In accepting the donation, LDF Commander Lieutenant General Mojalefa Letsoela, expressed profound gratitude to Blue Sky for their support.
He said LDF had long faced challenges related to inadequate facilities, particularly during the hot summer months, and that this donation would help alleviate discomfort while ensuring personnel can perform their duties in a more conducive environment.
“Your generous contribution comes at a crucial time. It not only enhances our living conditions but also reinforces the partnership between the private sector and the defence force. We are encouraged by this demonstration of solidarity and commitment to the well-being of our service members,” said Lt-Gen Letsoela.
The partnership between Blue Sky and the LDF demonstrated how businesses could play a vital role in national development, he said.
“This sets a commendable precedent for other businesses to follow,” he said.
