THE 12th edition of the Black Affluence Turn Up Party is on this weekend at Cuban Linx in Maseru under the theme, “The Aftermath”.
Launched in 2012, Black Affluence is as an events and apparel outfit which has hosted various events such as Re-Up, Wrap Up, Blow Up and The Takeover parties.
Black Affluence is usually held at Barcelos at Maseru Mall in summer where it has become hugely popular while the winter edition is held at Cuban Linx.
Black Affluence representative, Phoka Lithebe, this week told the Weekender that they will feature foreign DJs namely Uncle Party Time from Johannesburg and the DJ duo from Bloemfontein of Cider and Cjo.
Lithebe said they would perform alongside local artistes Katz and Smooth, AfroDeejay, Ten/10, Ebonics, Stylus88 and DaStarr.
He said they themed the Saturday edition The Aftermath because it was their first after last December’s edition where they hosted Ricky Rick and DJ PH.
“This will be the first event after our highly successful December edition which had a very high turn-out,” Lithebe said.
He said Black Affluence started as an apparel company which they launched through a t-shirt line.
“We focused on clothing when we started but then we realised that the local entertainment scene did not offer the kind of turn up we wanted hence we launched the events. However, as fate would have it, the events grew because of the uniqueness and we have continued like that since then,” Lithebe said.
