ENTERTAINMENT movement, Keys to the City, will on Saturday unlock the spring season in style with a lifestyle party scheduled for the Manthabiseng Convention Centre in Maseru.
Dubbed ‘Spring Break’, the event will be headlined by American-born Akio (DJ ID) and DJ Capital from South Africa. The two are set to play along a local contingent of DJs Veenushka, Gama, Charma Exzit, Deepee, Pablodj, Mac Breezy, Trojan VDH, Zagro Deejays, Ten/10, Yuri, Tobby, Toxique, Osmic, Dave Postah and Mura. Ms Kiva and Kat Afro will be the hosts of the evening.
The organisers said even though this will not be the first time that Akio and DJ Capital are playing in Maseru, they felt it befitting to bring them back since they always leave the audience yearning for more.
Veenushka on the other hand was born in Lesotho but is based in Bloemfontein and has headlined several local events.
Celebrating its fourth edition this year, Keys to the City is the brainchild of the quartet of Bokang Khoarai, Mabusetsa Sakhele, Hlony Mafereka and Mimi Setlaba.
According to Sakhele, the events are aimed at catering for the savvy music lovers either from the suburbs or township.
“The concept, Keys to the City, caters for anyone above 18,” Sakhele said.
“People always want to break their daily routines so we thought this idea would accommodate people of different musical tastes, giving them access to the city, in an affordable way. People want to experience different vibes hence we tried to build our line up with DJs who can play hip hop, house, naija and old school among other sounds.
“The show is all about interactions and making new friends while jamming to good music and enjoying our favourite beverages. This year we will also be bringing forth those childhood games such as jumping castles and treasure hunt to name a few as we intend to have things that will bring us into one accord,” he said.
