MASERU — The 2014 national boxing championship explodes into life on Saturday at the Makoanyane Hall in Maseru.
According to the Lesotho Boxing Association secretary general Masetote Leshota, the championship would be used to select Lesotho’s team for the Second African Youth Games set for Gaborone, Botswana from 22-31 May.
“Everything is on track as we have now confirmed the venue of the tournament. We had expected to hold the competition at Maria Mabasotho as usual, but had to change because the hall was not available,” said Leshota.
The event, Leshota added, would be used to select the country’s representatives at the quadrennial championship, whose first edition was in Morocco in 2010.
“Ten clubs have registered for the championship so far, and we expect more to have sent a list of their boxers by the day of the competition on Saturday,” said Leshota.
