MASERU — All roads lead to the third Annual KO Family Picnic set to take place at the Palace Hotel on Saturday.

“The show is aimed at enhancing local talent, that is not getting the recognition it deserves, by presenting it to the rest of the world.

“We randomly select the best performers of this country who need  that kind of exposure to put them on stage with the event amplified by artistes from other countries,” organiser of the show Tello “Dallas T” Leballo told the Weekender on Tuesday.

The KO Family is a movement that was inspired by Dallas T’s radio show The Knock Off which airs on Ultimate FM weekdays from three to six in the afternoon.

It was initiated as a Facebook group with the core intention of giving Lesotho’s youth the platform to interact, share their views and update each other on upcoming events.

“Considering the previous shows, the success of the picnic is growing and that can be verified by the increasing number of KO Family members (now over 12 000).

“This has compelled us to do things a bit differently. We will on that day elect the Face of the KO Family who will serve as the brand of the group,” he cited.

There are 40 local beauties in the race for this title.

The contestants were given codes ranging from KO1 to KO40 through which people can vote for them.

“The contestants will be eliminated in groups of tens on that day based on the number of votes each gets. The votes will be regulated by a team of auditors who will be present at the occasion.

“When the list is cut to top ten, the panel of judges will ask the contestants questions and the beauty with the best qualities will be crowned the winner.”

The winner will walk away M5 000 richer, the runner-up will get M3 000, while the one in third place will walk away with M1 000 and the rest will get M500. All the top ten ladies will get hampers courtesy of Econet and Redds.

Performances will be from South African acts DJ Tira and Joocy from Afrotainment, alongside local acts Mekonko, Counter Force, Smallz Da DJ, Skepza D, Damario, Stlofa, and many more.
