IN a heartfelt effort to help bridge the education gap among disadvantaged children, the Shoeshoe ea Moshoeshoe campaign, led by Her Royal Highness Princess Senate Mohato Seeiso, has launched a nationwide school donation drive aimed at providing essential supplies to primary and high school learners.

The initiative seeks to mobilise community support and build partnerships that will enable underprivileged students to access vital school necessities. Items such as school shoes, uniforms, stationery and sanitary products will be distributed to vulnerable learners across the country.

The project also aims to support these girls with menstrual hygiene products, aligning with broader efforts to promote health, dignity and school attendance among adolescent girls.

HRH Princess Senate said the initiative, officially launched at Maseru Mall this week, highlights the important role that communities, the media and corporate partners can play in expanding educational opportunities and empowering the youth of Lesotho.

She reaffirmed her commitment to improving access to education for all children, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring that no learner is left behind due to a lack of basic necessities.

“Education remains one of our most powerful tools for transforming lives and shaping the future of our nation,” said HRH Princess Senate.

“This initiative is a step towards ensuring that every child can attend school with confidence and dignity.”

HRH Princess Senate also reflected on the significance of Lesotho’s bicentennial celebrations in 2024, which marked 200 years of the country’s cultural heritage, resilience and unity. She noted that the Shoeshoe ea Moshoeshoe initiative forms part of broader social responsibility efforts inspired by that historic milestone.

She explained that the campaign draws inspiration from the legacy of King Moshoeshoe I, whose values of peace, unity and compassion continue to guide the nation.

“Shoeshoe ea Moshoeshoe was inspired by the legacy of King Moshoeshoe I, whose ideals of peace, forgiveness and unity remain central to our national identity,” she said.

“The objectives of this initiative are multi-faceted. We want to strengthen existing efforts to support learners by providing school supplies and uniforms, mobilise community and corporate support, and encourage collective participation in education-focused initiatives. Every contribution counts, whether it is a small donation or a large partnership.”

Meanwhile, the partnership with Maseru Mall was praised as a strategic platform for launching the campaign.

Speaking on behalf of the mall’s management, Nkala Motlalane expressed gratitude for being selected as the host venue and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting initiatives that benefit communities.

“We are honoured to support this noble cause. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of many children and contribute to the development of our nation,” said Mr Motlalane.
