TEN lucky Basotho will tomorrow fly out to the Annual Durban July festival in South Africa where they will rub shoulders with that country’s celebrities, courtesy of DStv.

The prestigious annual Vodacom Durban July is one of South Africa’s most glamorous events and it will take place on Saturday.

The event brings together celebrities, socialites and business people around South Africa and from outside the country to mingle and have fun as they enjoy several activities such as horse racing, fashion shows and music.

Five DStv subscribers were chosen from a list of entrants who participated in a competition which ran from 18 to 28 May 2017 and was open to customers who had upgraded to the DStv premium bouquet.

The five winners were then given the opportunity to bring along their partners for the Durban holiday. They will be joined by six others from the DStv staff and media.

One of the lucky winners, Libokano Segoete this week spoke of her delight in being afforded the exciting opportunity, adding this one event she followed on television.

“To be given such a wonderful experience by DStv is amazing and we can’t thank them enough for taking us to such a beautiful event,” Ms Segoete told the Lesotho Times this week.

“I always watch the Durban July and admire the glitz and glamour from a distance.

I only dream but this time it’s a different story as I will be part of the occasion. I’m going to mingle with the celebrities and get to see what they get to in their world as compared to what I do on my everyday life,” Ms Segoete said.

She said the trip had come as a blessing as they had planned to fund from their own pockets a trip to Durban with her sister and children.

Ms Segoete said she was also looking forward to meet one of her favourite celebrities, the South African fashionista, Somizi Mhlongo.

“We are going to be exposed to other people’s world as we get to see them face to face and get to learn whether what we see on television is just an act,” Ms Segoete said.

She said she heard about the competition from an agent who assisted her to upgrade to the for DStv Premium bouquet.

“I took her lightly but followed her instructions and entered the competition. A few days later I got a call that I was one of the lucky winners.”

For her part, Go.tv Sales Marketing Manager, Refiloe Mohlotsane said preparations for the trip to Durban were on schedule.

“All the tickets are ready and people just need to arrive on time so we can embark on the journey with our lucky customers who will have an opportunity to be part of the exciting event,” Ms Mohlotsane said.

“All I need to say to our lucky customers is that they will be treated like kings and queens in Durban and they will be part of the most exciting events.”

She said upon their arrival in Durban tomorrow, there would be a DStv Compact beach party ahead on the main event on Saturday and their return on Sunday.
