Twenty-three-year-old mother-of-one killed as she drove into her father’s Lower Seoli residence

THE 23-year-old daughter of All Basotho Convention (ABC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Lithoteng Constituency, Lehlohonolo Moramotse, was shot dead last night as she drove into her parents’ Lower Seoli residence.
The mother-of-one (name withheld) was shot at around 8pm and passed away as she was being rushed to Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital.
When the Lesotho Times crew visited the family’s home at around 9pm, the place was crawling with heavily armed Police Special Operations Unit (SOU) members who were combing the crime scene for evidence.
Friends and family members had also begun to gather at the residence while the grief-stricken Mr Moramotse was finding it difficult to talk about his daughter’s alleged murder.
Mr Moramotse told the Lesotho Times he was in the house with his other daughter, her friend and his wife when they heard gunshots followed by screaming.
“My 32-year-old daughter was preparing some tea for me in the kitchen when we heard some gunshots. While we were asking ourselves what could be happening outside, we heard people screaming and their voices seemed to be very close. I then decided to go out of the house to see what was happening and when I arrived at the gate, I realised that my red BMW which was being driven by my daughter, was parked at the entrance. Inside, I saw my daughter with her face on the steering wheel. When I came closer, I realised that the window near the driver’s seat was broken and I also saw blood oozing through by daughter’s neck,” Mr Moramotse said.
“A relative who was close by immediately took my other car and rushed my daughter to Queen ‘Mamohato Memorial Hospital but unfortunately, she died on the way to Tšepong. I can’t be exact about the wounds she sustained from the attack but her husband, who came after hearing about the shooting, said he could see six wounds on the right side of her body and a huge one in the neck.”
Asked what he suspected could have happened, Mr Moramotse said he believed he was the target of the attack because his daughter was driving his car.
“I suspect the attack was meant for me because my daughter was driving my car, which I normally use when I am attending ABC caucuses, rallies and constituency meetings. I don’t know what the police findings are going to be but I seriously assume the attack was meant for me,” he said.
His daughter, Mr Moramotse said, had a five-year-old son, and was working in one his construction companies.
Meanwhile, the SOU details attending the crime scene refused to speak to the Lesotho Times saying they were not authorised to do so.
