
Bantu claimed their first three points of the 2015/16 Vodacom Premier League season with a 2-0 win over Likila United on Sunday.
This was the first win for new coach Katiso Mojakhomo after the 2013/14 league champions lost their opening match 2-0 versus LMPS before drawing the second 1-1 against army side LDF.
However, A Matšo Matebele finally came good at LCS Ground this time around through goals by Litšepe Marabe and Nzenze Nkulu.
Marabe, who won the league’s top-scorer award last season, already has two goals in the new campaign.
Another giant of domestic football, Matlama, were also impressive on Sunday, beating Sundawana 3-1 at Setsoto Stadium to move into second position just two points behind log leaders Lioli, who have on all their three matches and are on six points.
This was the second successive win for Tse Putsoa who started the campaign with a disappointing goalless draw against Rovers.
Motebang Sera netted a brace while Jane Thabantšo the other scorer to make it two goals in as many matches for Moses Maliehe’s Sea Point-based charges.
The match between Liphakoe and Mphatlalatsane in Quthing failed to produce any goals and both teams remain winless three matches into the season.
Also on Sunday, Likhopo and LDF played to a goalless draw at Ratjomose, ensuring Shalane Lehohla remains unbeaten since taking over as new coach of the Red Army.
On Saturday, Lioli made it three wins out of three matches with a hardfought 1-0 win over the revitalised LMPS at Police Training College.
Jerry Kamele scored the solitary goal of the match, taking Lioli’s unbeaten league run to 21 matches. Tse Nala have not been beaten since losing 2-0 to Matlama on 19 October 2014.
Rovers also continued with their impressive run since returning to topflight football, with a 1-0 win over Kick4Life at NUL Ground on Saturday.
Former Linare midfielder Letsoko Leboela scored the only goal of the tie to take the Dynamites to third place on the premier league table.
Recently appointed LCS new coach, Mpitsa Marai, also managed to bag his first three points of the season after the correctional service outfit edged Linare 1-0 at LCS Ground.
Tse Tala are without a win from their opening three matches of the campaign and anchor the table, although it might be early days yet to press the panic button.
