Man faces murder charges

MASERU — A Maseru man, Nkoli Malia, appeared in the High Court last week to answer charges of murder and attempted murder.

Malia allegedly shot and killed Mosa Lemphane on 12 December last year near the Lesotho Bank Tower in Maseru.

Malia is accused of  shooting Lemphane as he attempted to recover his taxi which had been stolen by his son.

Evidence presented in court showed that Malia’s son, who was not named in court, stole his father’s taxi and was travelling in the taxi when the accused arrived and fired a shot.

Joel Lerotholi, who was among the passengers in the taxi, said he heard gun shots but did not see Malia.

The defence has argued that although Malie chased the vehicle he never fired any shots.

The case continues. — Lena.
