MASERU — Metropolitan Lesotho has launched the Workplace Insurance, making it the latest addition to their product portfolio in Maseru on Thursday last week.
The Work Place Insurance, which is the first of its kind in the industry, was piloted in January this year with over 60 visits in eight of the country’s 10 districts.
It is aimed at increasing clients’ convenience while at the same time, enhancing accessibility of Metropolitan services.
Client Service Manager, Sepinare Lenkoe said the initiative was the latest in line of the many innovative ways Metropolitan employs to ensure customer satisfaction, as was the case for well over the 46 years since its establishment.
“Customer service is our priority, therefore, we always strive to find new ways to keep our customers happy,” he said.
Lenkoe described workplace insurance as a mobile office that will bring service to the clients making it more convenient for them to carry out claims such as death, bonus, loans and other services they offer.
He said apart from the main Kingsway office and the recently opened centre at Maseru Mall, the insurance company has client service centres in Leribe, Mafeteng, Quthing and Berea.
This, he said, would help to decongest the Kingsway office.
“At present, we have centres in five districts and we cover 80 percent of Lesotho’s population. We are aiming for more and are optimistic to achieve our aim with innovative undertakings such as the one we have just unveiled,” Lenkoe said.
Also speaking at the event, Metropolitan Managing Director, Nkau Matete applauded the client service department for continually striving to address service challenges and making services more accessible to clients.
He said the concept had been adopted from Western countries where practices like workplace banking were common.
“Metropolitan has for long focused on improving client service. In addition to opening up more client service centres across the country, we have also invested in state of the art equipment and technology to ensure accessibility and sustainability,” he said.
The Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Lesotho Mathabo Makenete commended Metropolitan for their commitment to offering financial services to Basotho saying taking services to clients was a move in the right direction.
She said this was yet another important milestone marking continued partnership between Central Bank of Lesotho, Metropolitan and other financial services companies also working towards the achievement of financial stability.
“Financial inclusion and access to credit are among the biggest challenges facing Lesotho and this project will help increase access to financial services in both urban and rural areas,” she said.
Makenete said the initiative will also go a long way towards promoting customer confidence and satisfaction.
In closing Lenkoe said Metropolitan’s success over the 46 years since its establishment can be attributed to customer satisfaction which is at the forefront of their priorities.
