Times Café is set to host a special bash on 30 January 2016, dubbed ‘#SoLongSummer’.

According to show-organiser, MIP rapper T-Mech, the event is meant to celebrate the end of summer and arrival of autumn, and revive spirits after a hectic festive season. He said weather forecasts pointed to a cooler end of January compared to the current scorching conditions, hence the unique bash.

“In hosting #SoLongSummer, we are bidding summer farewell and welcoming autumn which will allow revellers to get back to their outdoor lifestyle and get their party groove back,” he said.

“Added to that, the first month of the year is associated with the so-called ‘January Disease’ where most people would be light in their pockets because of the festive season.

“It’s not ideal to start the new season depressed. We want to bring back the festive energy and get people to have fun again.”

The line-up of entertainers will include hip-hop sensation Jiji F, DJ Trybz, 4Fordy resident DJ Nine24, alias Switch Junior, DJ Eco as well as DJ Khebza, DJ Vesta, Kally Kome and Cappelo restaurant resident DJ Ebonix. MIP will also be part of the line-up.

T-Mech said the dress code would be summer wear, adding a number of events would also be held over the course of the year.

“This year we plan to host a series of events with my birthday party on 6 February the next event lined-up,” said T-Mech, real name Thulo Monyake.
