LINARE and Likuena defender, Rethabile Rasethuntša, has been re-invited for trials by South Africa’s DStv Premiership side, Swallows FC.

This will be the player’s second time to undergo trials at Swallows having first tried his luck last August. However, his attempt last year came to naught despite training with the side for three weeks.

Should the deal materialise this time around, Rasethuntša will be the second Lesotho player to sign for Swallows after attacking midfielder, Tumelo Khutlang, who joined the team last August on a two-year deal.

Linare secretary general, Moeketsi Rampai, told the Lesotho Times this week that the player was expected in Soweto next Monday.

“Rasethuntša has been invited for trials by Swallows,” Rampai said.

“He will leave the country on Sunday as he is expected to report for trials on Monday.

“We hope that it works out for him this time around. The re-invitation is a sign that the club saw something in the player.

“Although they did not eventually sign him last time, the management said it was impressed by with the player’s performance in some friendlies that he featured in. however, the then Swallows coach, Brandon Truter, said he had options in that position and did not need him at the time.”

Rampai is confident that the player stands a good chance if he impresses the new coach, Dylan Kerr. That the two sides now have a good working relationship also puts Rasethuntša in good stead.

“We have a memorandum of understating with Swallows which also includes player transfers between the two sides. We therefore, hope to reap benefits from that relationship.”

Linare has already signed former Kick4Life and CCX defender, Innocent Ncala Matlapeng, to replace Rasethuntša in the event that the move materialises, Rampai said.
