MASERU — Veteran Chinese diplomat Hu Dingxian arrives in Lesotho today to take up his new post as ambassador.
Dingxian, 56, replaces Qiu Bohua whose term of duty in Lesotho ended in December.
“We will welcome His Excellency Hu Dingxian and his wife tomorrow (today). He was serving as the ambassador of China in the Bahamas before coming here,” said Lai Bo who has been the acting ambassador.
Bo said the new ambassador, who is accompanied by his wife Xie Xiuling, is expected to present his credentials to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohlabi Tsekoa and then to His Majesty King Letsie III.
“A small welcome ceremony will be held where they will be introduced to government officials and other Excellencies,” he said.
Bo said there are at least 5 000 Chinese nationals living in Lesotho.
