MASERU — A new drama on HIV and Aids is set to start shooting in the capital tomorrow.

Monna oa Motsamai is scheduled to be screened next January, the producers of the drama said this week.

The new drama is a product of Phela Health and Development Communications, a multimedia organisation that campaigns through the print media, radio and television.

Phela director Mabahlakoana Dolo said she hoped Monna oa Motsamai will be as successful as last year’s Mapule, a popular short film on the HIV and Aids pandemic produced by her organisation.

Monna oa Motsamai is a new drama which starts shooting on Friday at Ha-Pena-pena and some parts of the capital and will be screened in January 2010,” she said.

Dolo said seven actors will star in the drama, co-written by Sejake Mats´ela and Mothea Mpharoane.

‘Mants´alla Ramakhula and Silas Monyatsi will be the main actors, with Tseko Monaheng also playing a leading role.

Tumelo Matobako will be the producer, while Pheello Makosholo will direct the film.

The theme of Monna oa Motsamai will be “One Love”, Dolo said.

Phela represents in Lesotho the “One Love Campaign” which is taking place in nine regional countries.

As part of the fight against HIV and Aids, Phela has produced documentaries and held radio talk shows to raise awareness on the pandemic.
