Nation before party

In News
August 19, 2009

I WONDER if Prime Minister Pakalitha Mosisili is the leader of Lesotho or only of the ruling Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD).

I think he is advancing the interests of the LCD rather than those of the nation. I think it would be best if he does not seek re-election in 2012.

He should give a chance to others so that we see what they can do.

I am also not comfortable with the coarse language that the prime minister uses at his party’s rallies.

I believe there was no reason for Mosisili to comment on the issue of proportional representation seats at the rally in Teyateyaneng.

The agreement was that all parties to the election disputes would refrain from passing inflammatory comments to the media.

The PM raised the issue at the wrong forum. Mosisili should go and raise his concerns with the Christian Council of Lesotho who are mediating in the dispute.

He  should do it himself rather than delegate this weighty responsibility to some minister.
