In celebration of his 30th birthday, Mr Maps of emotive PR, will give a different twist to the entertainment scene by hosting a black tie event titled Hi Society this Saturday at 4Fordy.

Mr Maps, born Tlali Mapetla, hails from Masianokeng in the outskirts of the town of Maseru. His career spans over a decade as a producer, deejay and radio presenter, both in Lesotho and South Africa. He also co-founded the National radio station Ultimate FM and hosted the then popular Hip Hop show Backdoor Sessions that used to air on weekends between year 2006 and 2008. He has two mix tapes to his name, Best Kept Secret Volume 1 and 2 and has graced local clubs and events on regular basis during quite a number of Hip Hop Shows.

Speaking to the Weekender on Monday, Mr Maps said that it is the first time that he will be celebrating his birthday in a party from and he decided to make it formal as it is basically about celebrating style.

“People have been asking me to host events to celebrate my birthday but I always felt it was a bit personal,” he said.

“But with this being my 30th, and considering the projects I am currently engaged in, I only saw it befitting to have a classy event with some incredible disc jockeys that will ensure that people have the best of fun.

“I decided to make it a black tie event because I am more into fashion and style and I perceive it as a compliment having well dressed up people at my events.”

He added: “I am not trying to have a bash or a huge party, but just something laid back where I together with friends and fans of my work can come and have a good time. 4Fordy is an exclusive venue that is why I partnered with them to host an event of this caliber.”

Mr Maps also told this newspaper that he has never been the type that follows the common trend when it comes to organizing events, but he always tries to raise the bar in the entertainment industry through his shows. He intends to have events of this nature for that sophisticated class of people, but this will only be determined by the turnout.

The line-up consists of heavyweights like DJ Bootz, Mekonko, Ebonix, Macs on the decks, The Hitman and Untitled DJ.
