MASERU — Local kwaito star Manyofi has landed a major distribution deal with a Swaziland-based music production company Peace Entertainment Pty Ltd.
Peace Entertainment Pty Ltd will distribute Manyofi’s latest album, Money Making Machine.
The 10-track album was released in November and it contains hits such as Ee hle and Sesfikile which are currently blazing on both local and South African radio stations.
Manyofi told the Weekender he will be sealing the deal this week.
“I have been working hard promoting the album and they showed interest in working with me in November.
“They will be handling the distribution and marketing of the album,” Manyofi said.
“I’m busy going through the contract with my lawyer at the moment but the deal will be sealed this weekend.”
Peace Entertainment Pty Ltd, which also has a branch in Durban, South Africa, will only have the marketing and distribution rights to the album.
“People should understand that this is not a recording deal because I have already produced the album in Lesotho, rather the company is going to help market the album in other African countries,” Manyofi said.
“Whatever profits the album will make, I will be getting 60 percent.”
The artiste is hopeful that Peace Entertainment Pty Ltd will help him push volumes having worked with the likes of DJ Cleo and Big Nuz from South Africa and DJ Peace from Swaziland.
“Working with this company promises to bring international exposure for my work and my market will increase.
“DJ Peace has won several awards in Swaziland and in 2009 he won the best newcomer award at the Metro FM Awards,” Manyofi said.
He added that his new distributors were going to promote his music in Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland and the rest of South Africa “while I will handle the promotion of the album in Lesotho and the Free State”.
“There are a series of road shows lined up to promote the album in Swaziland, Nelspruit and Durban but dates will be confirmed next week.”
Manyofi said Peace Entertainment Pty Ltd has a vast network of major distribution companies including Jet, Musica, CNA, and Shoprite which would help his music to reach a wider audience.
The star added that he was busy shooting a music video of the track Sesfikile to be launched at the end of this month.
“I will be launching Sesfikile’s music video and Manyofi dance monthend at Mazenod Conference Centre in Mazenod,” he said.
A number of local kwaito artistes have pledged to support the initiative.
