A 21-YEAR-OLD Leribe man is in police custody on allegations he killed his wife on 2 August 2016 following an altercation.

Police spokesperson Superintendent Clifford Molefe said the Mahlabatheng, Matukeng man allegedly killed his same-aged wife and fled from the matrimonial home.

“The wife’s corpse, with her throat slit, was discovered at around 1 pm on 2 August. The husband, who had run away, was apprehended by Leshoele villagers who handed him over to the police,” Superintendent Molefe said.

He said the arrest was a good example of the collaboration between police and members of the public. Superintendent Molefe also commended the villagers for not attacking the suspect, adding that accused people also had rights.
