A COTERIE of local artistes are set to perform at Bloemfontein’s Topaz Lounge on Sunday in an event meant to test the waters in their foray into the South African market.
The line-up includes MIP, Juvy, Jiji F, L Tore, OGM and SirNic with DJs Ebonix, Nine24, Trybs, Vesta, Afro and Venushka manning the decks at the event which will be hosted by Matli Mohapeloa.
The show is the brainchild of Lesedi FM presenter cum promoter Ba2cada who has shown a keen interest in creating opportunities for Basotho artistes to gain recognition in South Africa since 2011.
According to Ba2cada, the aim of the show was to take Basotho artists out of their comfort zone and expose them to a different audience.
“I often come to Lesotho and realised that there are many talented artistes who never get the opportunity to perform before foreign audiences,” he said in an interview with the Weekender this week.
“The idea is to take Majita (artistes) away from their usual surroundings to a different stage and see whether they can still shine.
“I am aware of the talent that needs exposure. So this will not be the last show as we are planning to invade Pretoria and Johannesburg before the end of the year.”
One of the artists, AfroDj lauded Ba2cada for organising the event which he described as an opportunity of a lifetime.
“This is the biggest opportunity that Lesotho artists have ever received as a collective,” he said.
“It is a great achievement for a local artist to perform in South Africa and what Ba2cada has done has never been done before by anyone.”
AfroDj added: “I believe we will get the exposure we have always dreamt of and I urge Basotho to continue supporting Ba2cada for him to continue doing great things for us.
“Although I have never worked with him before, I got to perform in his presence in Lesotho. I am honoured because he has confidence in my work and that of other artists.”
