THE Lesotho National Development Corporation (LNDC) on Monday this week rewarded four whizkids from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), Centre for Accounting Studies (CAS), Lerotholi Polytechnic (LP) and National University of Lesotho (NUL).

The quartet — Matšeliso Mosola (BA Economics-NUL), ‘Mamorabe Sello (BA Entrepreneurship-LUCT), Mponeng Manyeli (Chartered Accountant- CAS) and Mpholle Hopo (Diploma in Construction Management-LP) — were presented with laptops during a brief ceremony held at the LNDC head office in Maseru.

LNDC Head of Planning, Research and Information Management, Motebang Mokoaleli, said the gesture sought to recognise special students at the four institutions.

“We advised ourselves, as LNDC, to recognise top achievers in these institutions in order to encourage them and also show appreciation of their hard work. You are now ready to face the corporate world and we expect you to excel in order to contribute to the development of this country,” Mr Mokoaleli said at the handover ceremony, adding he was pleased to note there were three ladies in the group of high-achievers.

“We used to say it’s a man’s world, but with these statistics, we can now say this is a ladies’ world as we are represented by just one man.”

Mr Mokoaleli further told the graduates he hoped they would show the same commitment at the workplace in order to excel.

On behalf of the graduates, Ms Mosola expressed gratitude to the LNDC gesture.

“We really appreciate this gesture because it is not easy for an academic to work without a laptop and for that we thank LNDC for these presents,” Ms Mosola said. “It was not easy to obtain these good results but we finally made it to the top through the support we received from our relatives and lecturers.”

LNDC is wholly owned by the government and charged with implementing the country’s industrial development policies.
