LOCAL comedy film, Lilaphalapha 3, will be re-launched tomorrow night at Maseru Sun Cabanas.

Lilaphalapha Teropong is a sequel to Lilaphalapha 1 and 2. In the previous editions, Lilaphalapha, played by Bofihla Neko, was troubled by his two notorious sons Shorts (Thuso Dlamini) and Mokitimi (Shoaepane Sehahle) with whom he lived in the rural areas. He then decided to leave them behind to search for his sister in Maseru.

Part three commences as Lilaphalapha arrives at a bus stop in Maseru and is awestruck by the sight of ladies wearing mini-skirts, endless cars in the streets and, most of all, being told he had to pay for fruits sold in the street. He finally manages to find his sister but struggles to adapt to life in the fast lane.

According to Neko, Lilaphalapha Teropong has the dual themes of the development of the rural setup and enhancing of the urban lifestyle.

“We launched the movie in March this year, but due to the fact that we noticed a few hiccups during the launch and some of our sponsors wanted us to modify the way their products appear in the movie, thereby warranting the re-launch,” said Neko in an interview with the Weekender this week.

“We believe the re-launch will be flawless and classier as this time as it will be hosted in one of Lesotho’s biggest hotels and the fact that we have had the time to rectify our mistakes.”

Neko further said unlike the film’s launch in March, where the audience inadvertently only watched the trailer, they will see the full movie and even get a free copy.

To spice up the event, there will be special appearances by actors from South African series, Isibaya and a performance by the legendary South Africa musician and producer Joe “Mr Ding Dong” Nina.

Nina has composed and produced such hit albums as Egogogweni (township settlement) and has become synonymous for his track Ding Dong which is considered a classic by Kwaito lovers. He blends kwaito, Hip Hop and reggae, fusing them with the energetic township groove and lingo.

He will perform alongside the likes of Juvinile, DJ Boots, Sents’o and Kingdom Classics. Motivational speaker, Calvin Motebang, will also grace the stage.
