MASERU — Black Star Productions on Saturday held the country’s first African Beer Festival at the Maseru Club.
The expo was aimed at showcasing different African beers, ales, lagers and wines especially those from micro-brewers.
“We are trying to expose Basotho, and other nationalities that are here, to different African alcohol products,” said festival-organiser, Kaizer Matsumunyane.
A wide range of alcoholic beverages from around the world, were showcased at the one-day festival, with Lesotho also showcasing her traditional beers, Hopose and Sesotho.
Marethabile Matabane, who was among the scores who attended the festival, said she felt privileged to be part of such a great event.
“We are only exposed to a few beers here in Lesotho, and it is through such shows that we are able to know about them.
“I have tasted quite a number of them today and they are different from those served in our country.
“It is only today that I was able to know that beer can also be flavoured and I am hoping to see more shows of this nature in future, and Basotho producing their own beer to create our own unique brand,” she said.
